That is the house as it stands: two rooms with three beds and two rooms with four beds (regular beds plus bunks), which is how we sleep 14 guests, plus two extra beds for guides when a tour group asks. One three-bed room is offered as a 2-guest room on the Smoobu calendar so couples are not forced to pay for a third unused bed.

Each private bathroom

Every bedroom has a bathroom that belongs to that room only: a shower, a toilet and a washbasin. You do not walk a corridor in a towel. Hot water is reliable. We put out a towel and the bed is made when you arrive.

The shared house

The kitchen is fully equipped — fridge, cooker, oven, coffee, pans, plates. There is no breakfast service: you cook what you bought in Akureyri, Húsavík or at the small shop in Fosshóll. In summer the outdoor gas barbecue is the evening table. The living room has maps of the Diamond Circle, books and card games. Five bicycles stand by the house for a slow look at the valley. Parking is free, in front of the building, on the hill.

From the kitchen window you see the mist of Goðafoss, 4 km west. That is the view you come back to after Húsavík, Mývatn or Dettifoss — not a hotel corridor in town.

Who the rooms suit

Families use the four-bed rooms. Friends split a three-bed room. Couples take the 2-guest listing. Children are welcome; the waterfall is 4 km away, so it is a house with a garden, not a fenced playground. The house is open 1 May – 31 October only.

View, linen, what to pack

The house stands on a hill above the valley. Rooms look into the building or toward the slope — we do not sell a “waterfall view from the pillow”, we sell a waterfall you can reach in eight minutes and see as mist from the kitchen. Beds are made. A towel is on the rack. Bring a swimsuit if you plan GeoSea or the Mývatn Nature Baths, closed shoes if you book Eyjardalsá, and food for the first evening if you arrive after the shops close.

There is no daily housekeeping show. It is a house. You share the kitchen timetable with whoever else is in that night. After 22:00 the valley is quiet: that is the point of not sleeping in Húsavík harbour or a Mývatn hotel car park.
